Biography
 
Professor Jian S. Dai, CEng, IEEE Fellow, ASME Fellow, RSA Fellow, IMechE Fellow, is Chair of Mechanisms and Robotics and a pioneer in reconfigurable mechanisms in robots, leading the field in reconfigurable robotics internationally. Professor Dais technology has created a large number of patents that were cited by many major companies globally, such as Tao Life Sciences Inc., Boeing Company, Amazon, Worldpro Group, LLC, Thales Group, Raytheon Technologies Corporation, iRobot Corporation, ALIO Industries, Seiko Epson Corporation, Hyundai Motor Company, CITIC Dicastal Co., Ltd. etc.
 
Professor Dais technology has been used by industries and created large economic returns including the healthcare industry such as Movendo Technology srl., AiTreat Pte Ltd. etc., the robotics industry such as DH-Robotics Technology Co. Ltd., DR-Tech Co. Ltd., and the manufacture industry such as Novus Altair Ltd., Foxconn Industrial Internet Co., Ltd. (Fii) etc.
 
Professor Dais technology has initiated an international progress in reconfigurable mechanisms and robotics with his founding of the prestigious IEEE triennial international conference series on reconfigurable mechanisms and robotics (ReMAR) that enters its fifth edition since 2009. Professor Dai received the 2020 ASME Machine Design Award, as the 58th recipient since 1958, and the 2015 ASME Mechanisms and Robotics Award, as the 27th recipient since 1974.
